Sarah A. Sarjuprasad

She is a Guyanese native, now naturalized US Citizen, who immigrated to the USA in her early twenties. She is a Columbia University NYC graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Creative Writing. She later trained as a NYC Teaching Fellow teaching ENL (English as a New Language) at Richmond Hill High School, while pursuing her Masters in Education at Hunter College CUNY.

After becoming a mother, Sarah developed a passion for reading delightful Picture Books to her oldest daughter. After encountering hit and miss tries at finding delightful Picture Books, she decided to focus on publishing her own original Picture Book manuscript -Frisky and Freckles- that she had written years prior during her studies at Columbia University. Since then, Sarah has written and published four (4) additional stories, accumulating five published Picture Books to date.

Sarah's stories use a diverse range of characters – angels, weather elements, trees, flowers, animals, “inanimate” objects, vegetables, mythical beings, and humans - to entertain the imaginations of children while teaching impactful life lessons and showcasing character values. Among such life lessons and character values that are shown in her stories are: being willing to try new things, being impactful through serving others, being a true friend, being solution-oriented, being authentic in the midst of rejection, having a destiny and purpose, and taking manageable steps.

Sarah also attends author visits and teaches writing workshops upon request.

Sarah lives in NYC with her husband and their four daughters. She enjoys nature, reading self development books, pursuing her dreams, and cooking delicious treats for her family of 6!

Mom of 4, Author & Founder of SAS PUBLISHING

"After becoming a mom and experiencing the joy of reading adorable picture books such as Llama Llama Red Pajama to my oldest daughter, I started seeking more books of that kind: wholesome and delightful -the kind of stories that make you feel cozy on the inside!

Seeking out such books quickly became a hit and miss situation -more misses than hits! It became too frequent that I purchased picture books or borrowed them from the library, only to be disappointed by them being dull and lacking heart.

Then, with divine timing, God reminded me of my own picture book story Frisky and Freckles which I had written years before, during my college days. I had an inner knowing that I couldn't complain about what I had the ability to fix! So, I embarked on the process of editing that story. I completely reworked the story from prose to rhyming lines until I was pleased with the story's transformation.

The remarkable moment in my author journey happened when, suddenly, unexpectedly, I received another story idea, even though I had never received inspiration for a second story in all those years since I wrote my first. This was followed by inspiration after inspiration - from dreams, visions, and thoughts dropped into my mind - of more story ideas, until I wrote four more stories in less than two years.

It is my hope that every story I write carries the essence of beauty and inspiration from Heaven to make every child and adult reader feel cozy and hopeful on the inside -just like the good ol' children's classics that warm hearts decades after they've been written and published, to each new generation that arises!"
