Illustrator Katrin Budeeva
"The traditions of fine art have been preserved in my family for several generations. Mother is an art teacher for children and adults. My great-grandfather was an icon painter and a priest.
For as long as I can remember, I have always painted: in art school, in general school lessons, at home in the evenings, on weekends. The hobby turned into a profession. I am proud to think that I have become an artist and illustrator.
Part of my activity is wood painting and popularization of folk art of my culture. Another direction is children's book illustration. I work with traditional materials: watercolors, colored pencils, and ink. The rustling of a pencil on paper and the streaks of paint in a water drop are real magic. I think it helps me to bring fairy-tale stories to life on paper for readers.
My portfolio includes more than 10 books. These are picture books by modern authors, classic fairy tales, and textbooks for children."
